Arizona County Board Supervisor Says He Voted to Certify Election ‘Under Duress’
QUOTE: The head of an Arizona county’s board of supervisors on Monday said that he voted to certify the Nov. 8 midterm election results because otherwise he would be arrested.
“I vote ‘aye’ under duress. I found out today that I have no choice but to vote ‘aye’ or I will be arrested and charged with a felony,” Mohave County Board of Supervisors Chairman Ron Gould said while casting his vote Monday. “I don’t think that that is what the founders had in mind when they used the democratic process to elect our leaders.”
Gould said that tabulator issues at some Maricopa County vote centers prompted the board to delay certifying the election last week. During a meeting on Nov. 22, the officials said they would certify the results by Nov. 28 and said the move to push certification back until the deadline was a political move to put a spotlight on problems with how the election was conducted in Maricopa.
“What we found out today from the county attorney is, essentially, if I have a question with how our election is run and I don’t get my question answered, I have no choice but to canvass the election, which is the technical word for certifying it,” Gould told KTAR. “Or I’ll be charged with a felony.”

Kari Lake Doesn’t Concede After Maricopa County Certifies Results
QUOTE: Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake did not concede on Monday after Maricopa County certified its election results in favor of Democrat Katie Hobbs and said she is “firmly in this fight.”
“I want you to know that I am firmly in this fight with you,” Lake said in a video released on Twitter shortly after the election results were certified in Arizona’s most populous county. “Maricopa County just couldn’t wait to certify their botched election,” she said.
Citing issues reported by Maricopa County officials and voters on Nov. 8, Lake then said that “Election Day voting centers were inoperable” and said that “Arizonans were expected to wait in line two, three, four, even five hours” to cast a ballot.
Lake, a former television news anchor backed by former President Donald Trump, said that she is currently working with lawyers on a legal case to challenge the election in Maricopa County. It came after her team filed a lawsuit last week against officials there.
“State statute requires certification before our case can move forward,” Lake asserted. “You know how hard I worked on the campaign trail leading our movement to bring common sense solutions to our problems. I am taking that same work ethic and using it behind the scenes right now, building a strong legal case.”
In the Twitter video, Lake did not elaborate on the nature of her next lawsuit. The one her team filed last week (pdf) demanded the release of Maricopa’s election records, which Lake later said would be the basis of a larger legal challenge.

DeSantis Slams Apple for Threatening Twitter While Catering to CCP
QUOTE: Governor DeSantis blasted Apple on Tuesday for threatening to remove Twitter from its app store and for interrupting the ability of Chinese citizens to use iPhones to organize protests against the CCP’s “zero-Covid” regime.
“Apple is threatening to remove Twitter from the App Store because Elon Musk is actually opening it up for free speech and restoring a lot of accounts that were unfairly and illegitimately suspended for putting out accurate information about Covid,” DeSantis said at a press conference in Duval County.
The overwhelmingly popular Florida governor, reelected earlier this month in a landslide, suggested that congressional action would be warranted if Apple took the dramatic step of removing Twitter from its app store in retaliation against CEO Elon Musk’s decision to reinstate banned accounts. Musk accused the tech giant of threatening the move in a Monday tweet.
“That would be a huge, huge mistake, and it would be a really raw exercise of monopolistic power that I think would merit a response from the United States Congress,” he said.

Mother of NYC heiress paid ‘deprogrammer’ big bucks after daughter ‘brainwashed’ by college’s woke agenda
QUOTE: New York City pharmaceutical heiress Annabella Rockwell is claiming that her mother paid a $300-a-day “deprogrammer” after believing her daughter had been “brainwashed” by attending an all-female elite liberal college that left the young woman “totally indoctrinated” and estranged from the parents who raised her.
“I left school very anxious, very nervous, very depressed and sad,” Rockwell, now 29, recently told the New York Post. “I saw everything through the lens of oppression and bias and victimhood. I came to the school as someone who saw everyone equally. I left looking for injustice wherever I could and automatically assuming that all White men were sexist. My thoughts were no longer my own.”
Rockwell, a former competitive figure skater who grew up on the Upper East Side, told the Post that at first she was elated to attend Mount Holyoke College — a $60,000-a-year women’s institution in rural Massachusetts — in 2011.
Unlike other first-year students, she said she did not participate in the “MoHo chop,” an initiation ritual meant to shrug off gender roles by cutting one’s hair. By her junior year, however, Rockwell told the Post that she noticed a shift in herself after taking a gender studies class.

Twitter Ditches COVID Misinformation Policy, Plans to Reveal Internal Files on ‘Free Speech Suppression’
QUOTE: Twitter has stopped enforcing its COVID-19 “misleading information” policy that had resulted in nearly 100,000 pieces of content being cut from the platform and led to more than 11,000 account suspensions.
The social media giant, which was taken over by industrialist Elon Musk at the end of October, said in a report that, effective Nov. 23, Twitter is “no longer enforcing the COVID-19 misleading information policy.”
The report included information about Twitter’s enforcement actions related to its COVID-19 content policies. Between January 2020 and September 2022, there were 11.72 million accounts challenged, 11,230 accounts were suspended and 97,674 pieces of content were removed.
The policy, which was introduced to curb the spread of “harmful misinformation” related to COVID-19, was praised by some, including U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, who in an advisory on “building a healthy information environment” cited Twitter’s rules as a model for companies to fight misinformation.
But heavy-handed enforcement of the policy garnered criticism, such as when earlier this year Twitter flagged numerous tweets with factual information about COVID-19 as misinformation and suspended accounts of scientists and doctors.
