Promise Kept: Schiff, Swalwell, and Omar Lose Powerful Committee Assignments

QUOTE: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy repeatedly promised over the past couple of years that, when the GOP took control of the House, he would remove Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from their respective committees. McCarthy has followed through on that promise.

On Monday, McCarthy confirmed to the Associated Press that Omar would be removed from the Foreign Affairs Committee and that Schiff and Swalwell would be kicked off the Intelligence Committee.

“Swalwell can’t get a security clearance in the private sector. I’m not going to give him a government security clearance. Schiff has lied to the American public,” McCarthy told reporters Monday night. “We will not allow him to be on the Intel Committee either.”

ESPN Employees Suing Network and Disney Due to Vaccine Mandate

QUOTE: Two former ESPN employees, reporter Allison Williams and producer Beth Faber, have filed a lawsuit in federal court against both the network and The Walt Disney Company.

The suit is based on their contention that the company’s COVID vaccine mandate violated their right to religious freedom. The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday, and seeks “unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial,” according to Front Office Sports.

Both were fired in late 2021 for refusing to comply with ESPN’s mandate, despite years of employment.

Their lawyer, Christopher Dunn, explained that they objected to the mandate due to “sincerely held religious beliefs.”

“Forcing [the] plaintiffs to choose between continuation of their employment and a violation of their religious beliefs in order to retain their livelihoods imposes a substantial burden on plaintiffs’ ability to conduct themselves in accordance with their sincerely held religious beliefs,” the complaint read.

This isn’t the first lawsuit ESPN’s faced over their COVID stance.

Sage Steele sued the company in 2022, due to alleged retaliation for her criticism of ESPN and Disney’s mandates.

Despite ESPN’s attempts to dismiss that suit, it remains ongoing.

Consumer Safety Commission Walks Back Gas-Stove Threat amid Backlash

QUOTE: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission chairman Alexander D. Hoehn-Saric issued a statement Wednesday assuring the public that his agency has no intention of banning gas stoves after a commission official drew the ire of the cooking public by suggesting the appliances might be banned in the near future due to the alleged health threat they pose to Americans.

“Over the past several days, there has been a lot of attention paid to gas stove emissions and to the Consumer Product Safety Commission,” Hoehn-Saric wrote in an official statement released Wednesday. “To be clear, I am not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so.”

Federal Judge Orders Stacey Abrams Group To Reimburse Georgia $230K for Spurious Election Lawsuit

QUOTE: A federal judge on Tuesday ordered Stacey Abrams’s Fair Fight Action to pay over $200,000 to reimburse the state of Georgia for legal fees related to a spurious lawsuit that claimed Gov. Brian Kemp (R.) stole the 2018 gubernatorial election.

Abrams founded the group after losing to then-secretary of state Kemp, who she claimed used his position to disenfranchise minority voters in the lead-up to the election. A federal judge in late September ruled against Fair Fight Action on all counts following a four-year legal battle, saying the group provided no direct evidence that Georgia voters struggled to vote in the election.

Fair Fight Action must repay $192,628.85 in transcription fees and $38,674.86 in copying costs that Georgia incurred in defending itself against the group’s lawsuit, according to a bill of costs submitted Tuesday by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensberger (R.) hailed the order as a win for the state’s taxpayers and voters.

“Stacey Abrams’s voter suppression claims were false. It has never been easier to vote and harder to cheat in the state of Georgia,” Raffensberger said in a statement. “This is a start, but I think Stacey Abrams should pay back the millions of taxpayer dollars the state was forced to spend to disprove her false claims.”

5- You will never, ever hear this good news out in the world but, data proves it. The climate is in great shape! Oh, and, there has not been an increase in severe weather.

The Climate Is In Great Shape

QUOTE: It doesn’t come as any surprise to regular Power Line readers that the politically and economically motivated climate hysteria with which we are constantly bombarded is false. This piece by Javier Vinós at Watts Up With That, titled “Good 2022 Climate News the MSM didn’t tell you,” does an excellent job of summing up the reality that is usually obscured.

As Vinos says, there has been mild warming during the last 40 years. But the rate of warming has been slowing down, not accelerating as the alarmists’ models predict:

The good news that no one is telling us is that global warming is slowing down. The 15-year rate was very high from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, reaching 0.35 °C/decade. The average over the entire period of satellite records is 1.3 °C per century or 0.13 °C/decade, but the long-term trend has fallen from 1.6 °C/century to 1 °C/century today. The current cooling period is contributing to this decline in the long-term warming rate.

The “current cooling period” refers to the fact that mean global temperature has declined over the last seven years.

Vinos points out, as we have many times, that claims of increasingly severe weather are simply false.

House Republicans Vote Unanimously to Repeal Funding For Army of 87,000 IRS Agents

QUOTE: The House of Representatives on Monday evening voted 221-210 to repeal funding for 87,000 IRS agents.

The so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ gave $79.6 billion to the IRS over the next 10 years. The Wall Street Journal said the new army of IRS agents will target the middle and upper-middle class.

According to new analysis, the IRS audits the poor at 5 times the rate of everyone else.  The IRS also has a history of targeting conservative groups.

The House approved its first bill on Monday night rescinding funding for the 87,000 IRS agents.

Landmark Lawsuit Slaps Legacy Media With Antitrust, First Amendment Claims for Censoring COVID-Related Content

QUOTE: In a live interview this evening on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., chairman and chief litigation counsel for Children’s Health Defense (CHD), announced that he and several other plaintiffs filed a groundbreaking novel lawsuit making antitrust and constitutional claims against legacy media outlets.

The lawsuit targets the Trusted News Initiative (TNI), a self-described “industry partnership” launched in March 2020 by several of the world’s largest news organizations, including the BBC, The Associated Press (AP), Reuters and The Washington Post — all of which are named as defendants in the lawsuit.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit include CHD, Kennedy, Creative Destruction Media, Trial Site News, Ty and Charlene Bollinger (founders of The Truth About Cancer and The Truth About Vaccines), Erin Elizabeth Finn (publisher of Health Nut News), Jim Hoft (founder of The Gateway Pundit), Dr. Joseph Mercola and Ben Tapper, a chiropractor.

All of the plaintiffs allege they were censored, banned, de-platformed, shadow banned or otherwise penalized by the Big Tech firms partnering with the TNI, because the views and content they published were deemed “misinformation” or “disinformation.” This resulted in a major loss of visibility and revenue for the plaintiffs.

The lawsuit further alleges that Big Tech firms, having partnered with the TNI, based their decisions on determinations jointly made by TNI, which touted its “early warning system” by which each partner organization is “warned” about an individual or outlet that is disseminating purported “misinformation.”
